Marriott Hotels
August 2011
Convert2Green has secured a contract with Marriott to collect and turn waste cooking oil from its hotels in the UK, into carbon savings. The waste oil will be collected by Convert2Green, refined into bio-diesel at its plant in Cheshire and will be used to fuel 3663's trucks; Marriott's supply chain partner, to deliver food and supplies back to its estate.

The move comes as part of Marriott's wider sustainability objectives to reduce energy, waste, water and resource consumption, and to recycle and use greener, non-toxic materials in its supply chain.

"We have a clear goal to reduce energy consumption globally as a business by 25% by 2017 - these energy savings are part of our overall sustainability strategy," explains Chris Moore, senior procurement manager, Marriott.

Marriott produces large quantities of waste cooking oil per annum in the restaurants across its estate, which might otherwise go to landfill and may even cause environmental problems, but recycling it to high quality bio-fuel can help Marriott to reduce carbon emissions by up to 90%."

Carluccio’s
July 2011
Italian restaurant chain, Carluccio’s and Convert2Green have teamed up to recycle the restaurant’s cooking oil.

Convert2Green will collect waste oil from Carluccio's 54 caffès in the UK and recycle it in to high quality bio-fuel which will be used to fuel delivery trucks, reducing carbon emissions by up to 90%.

Steve Kaddish, development manager, Carluccio's said: "Carluccio's take our recycling, waste management and carbon savings very seriously – recycling our waste cooking oil into bio-diesel with Convert2Green is a big part of our overall sustainability strategy.

"Our aim in the first twelve months is to save 92.7 tonnes of carbon through recycling our waste oil – a big step in our overall aim to recycle in the region of 78% of all our waste."

Friday’s supply chain partner – to deliver food to the restaurants.

Convert2Green wins Environmental Company of the Year at the East Cheshire Chamber of Commerce Enterprise Awards
March 2011
Convert2Green has been awarded the prestigious Environmental Award in the East Cheshire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2011.

Convert2Green scooped the award in a hard fought category against blue chip companies such as Siemens to take the top prize.

The award recognised that Convert2Green is now one of the top biodiesel producers in the UK.  In just four years the company has recycled over 13 million litres of waste cooking oil in to bio-fuels for road transport, heat and power – waste that would otherwise have gone to landfill, down the drain or for export abroad. This has saved over 25 million kg of CO2 on road transport alone.

In addition, Convert2Green provides its waste water to United Utilities to ‘supercharge’ its sewage treatment plant, increasing methane production by 15%, with the methane used to run the plant  - a complete waste-to-energy cycle.

The Environment Agency tackles carbon emissions with Convert2Green
January 2011
Waste to energy company Convert2Green has announced that it is working with the Environment Agency to supply its transport fleet with EN standard bio-fuels, as part of the Environment Agency’s goal to reduce its CO2 emissions by 33% by 2015.

Convert2Green will initially supply five of the Environment Agency’s operational depots in England and Wales with B25 bio-diesel which is recycled from 100% waste vegetable oil taken from fully sustainable sources in the UK.
