| CASE STUDY - THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY |
 |
The Environment Agency (EA) is a public body tasked to protect and improve the environment and to promote sustainable development. It is the Agency’s job to create a better place for people and wildlife and in doing so, to make sure that the work of the Agency is as environmentally sensitive as possible.
Recognising that transport emissions create one of the biggest impacts on the environment, the EA wanted to find a sustainable source of fuel for its road fleet. Keen to work with an industry leader, the EA appointed Convert2Green to supply its transport fleet with EN standard bio-fuels, as part of its goal to reduce CO2 emissions by 33% by 2015.
Convert2Green supplies the Environment Agency’s operational depots in England and Wales with B25 bio-diesel which is recycled from 100% waste vegetable oil, taken from fully sustainable sources in the UK.
The waste cooking oil is sourced in the UK, recycled and blended to create the bio-diesel so it has a low carbon footprint and the whole waste to energy process is undertaken in Convert2Green’s plant, powered by its own bio-fuel. This passes additional carbon saving through the supply chain to the EA who further reduce their CO2 emissions against the use of mineral fuels. |
