CASE STUDY - CHESHIRE EAST COUNCIL
RECYCLING HOUSEHOLD COOKING OIL |
 |
Cheshire East Council and its waste partner H W Martin Ltd, have added Convert2Green waste cooking oil containers to Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) across the Cheshire East region, in a leading initiative to recycle household waste cooking oil to bio-fuel.
Householders can now bring their used cooking oil to the recycling centre and dispose of it in 150 litre capacity collection drums, rather than dispose of it down the drain or send it to landfill. This saves expensive damage to the drainage system and is both convenient and environmentally friendly.
Convert2Green collect the used cooking oil from the recycling centres and convert the oil in to bio-fuel for use in road transport and to provide heat and power for public buildings such as hospitals.
This ground-breaking waste-to-energy initiative has now been taken up by Cheshire West Council and Greater Manchester Metropolitan Boroughs. |
